Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Faith Fellowship Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
Doctrinal Statement
The HOLY SCRIPTURES of the Old and New Testaments are give by inspiration of God, (2 Tim. 3:16-17) by which men of God were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Pet. 1:20-21) to write the very words of Scripture. True versions of the Bible are those based on the original manuscripts. They are without error and are the final authority for faith and practice (Matt. 5:18; Rev. 22:18-19).
The TRIUNE GODHEAD eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:18-19; 2 Cor. 13:14). These three are one God (Mark 12:29), having precisely the same nature (Ps. 83:18), attributes and perfection (Eph. 4:5-6), and worthy of precisely the same homage, confidence and obedience.
JESUS CHRIST is the eternal Son of God, possessing all the attributes of deity, who in the Father’s will and at the proper time became flesh (John 1:1-3, 14), being conceived by the Holy Spirit (Matt. 1:18-25) and born of a virgin (Luke 1:35), existing as man without ceasing to be God (John 10:30; 14:8-9; 2 Cor. 5:21), living in sinless life (1 Peter. 2:22; Rom. 5:10-11), dying an atoning death on the cross for the sins of the world (1 John 2:22) in order that He might reconcile a lost mankind to God (2 Cor. 5:19). He physically rose from the dead on the third day (1 Cor. 15:3-4), securing victory over sin and death for all who believe in Him (1 Cor. 15:55-57). He ascended into heaven (Heb. 1:1-3; 4:14-16). He fulfills the ministry of representative (2 Cor. 5:21), intercessor (Heb. 7:25) and advocate (Heb. 9:24). He will return (Acts 1:11).
GOD the HOLY SPIRIT convicts the world of sin (John 16:7-14), of righteousness and of judgment. He is the one who effects regeneration (John 3:5), baptizing all true believers in Christ into the body of Christ at the moment of the new birth (1 Cor. 12:13), indwelling (John 3:5), anointing and sealing them unto the day of redemption. He is the Divine teacher who guides believers into all truth (John 14:26; 16:13), empowering (2 Cor. 3:18), sanctifying and filling (Eph. 5:18) believers who yield to Him.
ANGELS. God created an innumerable company of sinless, spiritual beings, known as angels to minister to Him and to His children (Heb. 12:22; 1:14; Rev. 7:11). Lucifer , the highest in rank, sinned through pride (Isa. 14:12-15) thereby becoming Satan; and a great company of the angels followed him in his mortal fall (Rev. 12:9-11), some of whom became demons and are active as his agents. Satan is utterly depraved of character, the great adversary of God and His people (1 Pet. 5:8), the deceiver and god of this present world (2 Cor. 4:3-4). His powers are limited by God who overrules all his wicked devices for good (Job 1:6-12; 2:6; 42:10,12) He was defeated and judged at the cross (Heb. 2:14) and his final doom is certain (Rev. 20:10). We are able to resist (1 Pet. 5:8) and overcome him only in the armor of the Word of God (Eph. 6:10-12), by the blood of the Lamb (Rev. 12:11) and through the power of the Holy Spirit.
THE FIRST MAN, Adam, was created in the image of God (Gen. 1:27, 31) on the sixth day of creation. He did not evolve from a lower order of life (Gen. 3:6). In Adam’s sin, the human race fell (Rom. 5:12, 19), inherited a sinful nature (Jer. 17:9; Ps. 51:5), and became completely alienated from God. Man is totally depraved (Ps. 14:3-1; Rom. 3:10-12), not only nature, but also by personal choice (Rom. 3:23), and of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition (Gal. 3:11) and is therefore under the righteous judgment of God (Eph. 2:1-2; John 3:36).
SALVATION is the free gift of God, which cannot be merited by personal virtue or works (Eph. 2:8-9; Titus 3:5) but received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and in His shed blood and substitutionary death for man on the cross of Calvary (John 3:14). Therefore being fully justified and declared righteous (Rom. 4:22-5:2), the true believer is kept by the power of God alone (John 10:28-29) to one day be finally and completely transformed into the image of Christ at His coming (Phil. 1:6) Repentance is a vital part of believing, and is in no way, in itself, a separate and independent condition of salvation. The true believer is in possession of every spiritual blessing (Eph. 1:3) and absolutely complete in Christ (Col. 2:10) at the moment of the new birth. Every believer has direct access to God (John 14:6) without the need of a human priest (Heb. 4:16) since Christ is our only Great High Priest (1Pet. 2:1-2, 5, 9). Every believer has the responsibility and right to study the Holy Scriptures for himself (2 Tim. 2:15), depending on the Holy Spirit to guide him into all truth (John 14:26).
RIGHTEOUS LIVING should be characterized by obedience to the Word of God (John 14:15) in all the life and practice (Rom. 12:1-2), separation from worldliness (1 John 2:15-17), seeking those things which are above and not those things on the earth (Col. 3:2); seeking fellowship with other believers of like faith (Heb. 10:24-25), and dutifully giving witness by life and word to a lost and dying world (Col. 3:4-6). God gives divine enabling gifts to every believer as He wills to edify the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:11-12; Rom. 12:4-8). The fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-24), especially love (John 13:35), increasingly manifested in one’s life (2 Pet. 3:18) is evidence of one being born again, and not the gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor. 13:1-3).
THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST is to catch away the Church; and it is always imminent (Luke 12:40; James 5:8). The dead in Christ will be resurrected first and then those true believers which are still alive will be taken up together with them from the earth to meet Christ in the air (1 Thes. 4:13-18). The remaining unsaved will experience the righteous judgment of God (Jude 14,15) after which Christ will descend with His Church and set up His literal kingdom over all the nations for a thousand years (Rev. 20:4-7)
THERE IS LIFE AFTER DEATH, the eternal blessedness of the saved in heaven and the everlasting punishment of the lost in hell (Phil. 3:20-21; Matt. 25:46).
THE CHURCH consists of the saved (Matt. 16:16-18; Eph. 1:20-23); they are members of the body and bride of Christ (1 Cor. 12:12-27). The Church began at Pentecost and is completely distinct from Israel. Its’ members are under solemn duty to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Eph. 4:3-10). The local organized church should meet together regularly (Acts 2:41-42; Heb. 10:25).
The five purposes of the church are:
Worship (Matt. 4:10) including singing (Eph. 5:19), praying (Acts 2:42), hearing the Word (John 17:17), giving (1 Cor. 16:1-2), baptism (Matt. 28:19), the Lord’s Supper (1 Cor. 11:23-24).
Fellowship (acts 2:42)
Discipleship (Eph. 4:11-13)
Ministry (1 Cor. 12:4-5, 27)
Evangelism (Matt. 28:19-20)
