The lineage of Jesus through Judah and Tamar in Genesis 38, shows that even broken, sinful stories are part of God’s redemptive plan. Judah neglected and condemned Tamar while ignoring his own sin, but when his wrongdoing was exposed, we see repentance and change. Tamar, once forgotten and shamed, became part of the line of the Messiah. The passage reminds us that we are quick to judge and hide our sin, yet God forgives and remembers our sins no more. Like Tamar, forgiven sinners are brought into God’s family through grace.
